Dr. Julie ‘Madfish’ Bradshaw, MBE, of Great Britain, has achieved a world first - swimming 28.5 miles around Manhattan Island doing butterfly, taking her tally of world records to an amazing 20. Bradshaw finished in a record time of 9 hrs 28 minutes and 37 seconds.
Faris al Sultan was just in a zone - setting a pace that his competitors just couldn't keep up with. Pushing the pack through the swim and bike, Faris made his move in the run and finished an impressive +6 minutes ahead of German, Jan Raphael.
Heather Wurtele owned Ironman Lake Placid. After leading from the first lap of the two lap swim, all the way through the end of the run, winning by over 15 minutes and shattering the course record previously held by Kate Major by over 5 minutes
