UK Press Release - September, 2011
Definitely one to watch for the future, the City of Leicester Swimming Club Olympic hopeful Harriet Cooper is having an amazing 2011! After breaking the British Long Course record for the 50-metre backstroke for 13 year old girls at Ponds Forge in January, this outstanding Loughborough Grammar School student stormed to gold in the 100-metre backstroke at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Turkey, and won three silver medals in the 100- and 50-metre backstroke and 50 freestyle at the International Children's Games in Lanarkshire. Only last week she swam for England Central Team at the UK School Games and won the 50-metre individual freestyle and the 4 x 100 freestyle relay.
"I love swimming in my Kaiman Lady goggles from Aqua Sphere. In a way, it feels like they have become my "trademark""
She told us, "I love swimming in my Kaiman Lady goggles from Aqua Sphere. In a way, it feels like they have become my "trademark" as everybody that passes comments on them. I have recommended them to several of my swimming friends who have problems with soreness around their eyes. The comfort and vision is the best I've ever had. They're simply brilliant!"
Harriet's Head coach, Alex Dawson, believes Harriet has what it takes to make an impact on the senior scene. He has said, "It is realistic to think that she could be competing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. She can achieve that sort of status."
