Aqua Sphere Supports Commonwealth Gold Medallist Swimmer, Alex Scotcher, at Salford BG Triathlon World Cup
UK - Swimming kit specialist, Aqua Sphere, was delighted to support Commonwealth gold medallist swimmer, Alex Scotcher, with a top-of-the-range Blue Marlin triathlon wetsuit when he came to the rescue of the Emmerdale celebrity relay team at this summer's Salford BG Triathlon World Cup. The team's swimmer, Steve Farebrother, had been forced to withdraw so Alex stepped in at the last minute to help the team compete in the Sprint Distance event ( 750m swim, 20km bike and 10km run ). With water temperatures of about 17 degrees, Alex was impressed with the comfort and buoyancy of the Blue Marlin tri wet suit and vows to wear it again in his next triathlon. Racing extremely well, Alex was second out of the water and the team finished 6th overall in the Sprint Distance event.
He commented: "It was a superb race and I was proud to be able to support the team and Leukemia Research. Swimming in open water is a whole new experience for me and I've now been bitten by the triathlon bug! I hope to be here again next year!"
The Salford BG Triathlon World Cup takes place at Salford Quays in Manchester. Open to all ages and abilities as well as elite professionals, this year it sold out in less than 2 days back in January. The elite race attracted the strongest field ever, with Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European champions all racing for $100,000 prize money.
