With nearly 2,000 participants already logging their hours in the pool, ocean or lake each day and exchanging light-hearted barbs via Twitter and Facebook, Aqua Sphere's Swim Challenge is proving to be an intriguing grudge match between men and women.
Sport Environment, the organiser of The Blue Mile – Race for the Environment is today delighted to announce that it has chosen swimming goggle guru Aqua Sphere as its Official Swim Partner. Aqua Sphere is the name behind the world's most innovative award winning goggles and masks and is currently the fastest growing brand in UK swimming, providing everything a swimmer needs from caps to swimwear to wet suits. The new partnership will see Aqua Sphere supply 1200 branded swim caps as well as assorted winners' prizes and adds to Aqua Sphere's strategic list of high quality event partnerships for 2010.
Beginning April 1 through November 30, swimmers of all abilities can sign-up and sign on to www.swimchallenge.org each day to log their hours (not their laps) in the water. The Swim Challenge website will track the total time, men vs. women, via a “leader meter” posted on the website and created as a widget so that competitors can keep tabs on their counterparts. The site will also allow swimmers to individually track their personal progress in the pool, encouraging them to swim longer each day. A $35,000 donation will be split between the Prostate Cancer Foundation (men) and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (women); allocations will be determined by the cumulative hours swum by each gender.
"AEA is pleased to have Aqua Sphere as a new sponsor," says Angie Proctor, Executive Director of AEA. "Aqua Sphere offers innovative equipment and products that our instructors and all water fitness enthusiasts’ can use to expand their training options and enhance their workout results."
